A heart beating rhythmically, slowly in tune to the sound of love. A warm embrace bringing comfort and peace-the assurance of never being alone or forgotten.
We travel through this life longing for a real, genuine connection to another. It’s as if we’re on a quest for a treasure hidden within the depths of a vast ocean. Discouragement sets in at the impossibility of reaching for something that seems so unattainable. But, this is the exact moment Jesus intervenes. He steps in and offers a perfect, priceless love.
Ephesians 5:2 gives us a beautiful picture of Christ’s love for us: “And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration-a sweet healing fragrance” (TPT). The love Christ gives us is one freely given, but costly for Him. Ultimate separation from God was our punishment, but through the pure love of Jesus, He would not allow this to happen. Love brought Him to earth from Heaven. Love led him to lead a perfect life free of sin. Love pushed Him to preach the truth to all. Love drove Him to a cross where He sacrificed Himself for our sins-what a precious, perfect, and undeniable love.
When we choose to accept this love, we see it bloom and blossom in every part of our daily lives. He is there, next to us in every step we take. The hills and valleys we move through are ones He’s walked and He’ll give us the strength and peace we need to walk right alongside Him. With outstretched arms, He invites us into an intimate embrace-one that is full of joy and hope. We only need to reach out to take His hand and accept the invitation. He endures for us and with us. This is a love that can only be described as deep, endless, and beyond anything we’ve ever known. It is a love available to all, and one we can trust to plant our feet firmly on and not be moved. It shakes us to our core and flips our world upside down in a way no other love in this world could possibly do.
The seemingly endless search for a fulfilling love is not one that is out of reach or unattainable. Jesus offers His heart willingly and lovingly. If we choose to take hold, our hearts will beat to the tune of His and joy, peace, and comfort will overflow into every space possible in our lives.
Ephesians 3:19: “and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (ESV).
