Someone asked me the other day why I decided to write a blog that talks about faith and running.  The number one and most important reason for writing anything on this blog is giving people a chance to read about God. I want it to be all about Him. I want everyone to see Him.  I want to spread His fame (in the words of our church’s mission statement) and right now, this is the best way I know how.  My hope is for someone to read this and begin to question what they need to do in their life to know Him.  As I’ve said before, I have failed miserably at being a disciple so I’m going out on a limb and starting off slowly with this blog.  A second goal of mine is to use this blog to express to others a different way in which I worship.  In a way, I feel that I am worshipping through running.  It’s just me and God on my runs and I take that time to converse with Him about my concerns, my needs, and the desires of my heart.  On many of my tough runs, I do have to reach out for Him and ask Him to give me the strength to finish what I have started.  Many times I just take this time to praise Him.  I am only able to run because He gave me the ability and the strength to do so.  Without Him, it wouldn’t be possible.  Running also gives me an opportunity to look around and truly appreciate His amazing creation.  We can read about the account of creation in Genesis. A repeated phrase seen throughout the first chapter of Genesis is “And God saw that it was good”.  He created everything and was pleased with His creation.  It is such a blessing to run and enjoy what He has created; and to see Him in every tiny detail is something that many of us take for granted.  In a way, I do hope that someone reading this blog will find an interest in running and be able to see it as worship and not just a form of exercise.
